Research teams were given an immersive experience to build skills and boost their impact thanks to the latest CSIRO x UniSQ iLAuNCH ON Prime session.

Held in Brisbane over two days in September 2023, ‘Immersion’ brought together six teams from the current cohort to discuss all things relating to customer discovery and market validation. Guest speakers included iLAuNCH CTO Dr Joni Sytsma and past ON Prime participants.

“This cohort is an important first step in commercialising research out of institutions and into the marketplace,” Dr Sytsma said.

“iLAuNCH aims to build Australia’s sovereign space capability by addressing critical gaps and accelerating development of a space manufacturing sector. Ensuring our researchers understand key skills related to this process is vital.

“During the session, I spoke on my learnings related to commercialising space technology, and discussed how the ON Prime cohort can their adapt and potentially mature their own individual technologies.”

In partnership with iLAuNCH, CSIRO is delivering an ON Prime round specifically tailored for research teams working on technology or research with an application in the space sector. These facilitated sessions are strategically scheduled over a period of nine weeks, kicking off with the immersion session.

ON Prime is delivered as part of a suite of initiatives being delivered by CSIRO aimed at supporting the research translation activities of Australian researchers.
