AWS launches Space Accelerator program across Australia, India, and Japan with iLAuNCH as a key partner
Amazon Web Services (AWS) has announced the launch of AWS Space Accelerator: APJ 2025, a program designed to support startups across Asia Pacific and Japan (APJ) that are focused on space technology—catalysing innovation and propelling the growing space economy in the region.
The 10-week accelerator will provide up to 40 selected startups with dedicated business resources, expertise, and guidance around technology and business capabilities, helping them leverage AWS to build, grow, and scale their missions. The accelerator is open to both early-stage and mature startups with operations based in Australia and New Zealand, India, and Japan, whose missions support the space sector, who need a technology platform for their ideas, and are looking to accelerate their growth and investment opportunities. Applications will be open from July 8 to September 5, 2025.
The program will be delivered in partnership with T-Hub, Minfy, Fusic, and Ansys, along with leading space organisations including the Australian Space Agency, IN-SPACe, iLAuNCH, and SKY Perfect JSAT Corporation. Together, these organisations will provide a comprehensive platform to help space startups develop their businesses and bring innovative solutions to market.
As one of the program partners, the iLAuNCH Trailblazer is proud to contribute to supporting space technology startups and strengthening sovereign space capability through collaboration, research commercialisation, advanced manufacturing, and skills development.
This initiative builds on the success of the AWS Space Accelerator: India in 2024, which supported 24 space tech startups across propulsion, launch vehicles, satellite imagery, geospatial applications, weather analysis, space tourism, and more. Several of these companies have already secured customer contracts and advanced their technologies in areas like propulsion and quantum key distribution.
The expansion of the AWS Space Accelerator into Australia and Japan comes at a time when the region’s space economies are rapidly growing:
-
Japan’s space economy is currently valued at ¥4 trillion (USD $26 billion), with government ambitions to double this by the early 2030s.
-
Australia aims to triple the size of its space industry to USD $6.4–7.7 billion annually by 2030.
-
India’s space industry is projected to grow from USD $8 billion in 2022 to USD $44 billion by 2033.
Startups innovating in Earth observation and remote sensing, manufacturing and launch for space infrastructure, and advanced drone technologies will be prioritised. These focus areas support urgent global needs such as climate resilience, sustainability, and improved data access through space-based solutions.
The program begins in September 2025 and will culminate in a demo day in December 2025, where participating startups will showcase their solutions. Selected startups will receive up to $100,000 in AWS credits, technical and business mentoring, access to venture capital networks, and greater visibility across the global space ecosystem.
At iLAuNCH, we are excited to play a role in this accelerator, working alongside AWS and regional partners to help drive innovation, foster new opportunities for startups, and build a thriving, connected space economy across the Asia Pacific.
