iLAuNCH-Sponsored Hackathon Empowers Young Innovators to Reimagine Menstrual Health in Space

iLAuNCH is proud to announce that the national champions of ActInSpace Australia 2026, sponsored at the platinum level by iLAuNCH, will go on to represent Australia at the international ActInSpace final in France after developing a groundbreaking space‑adapted menstrual health solution.

ActInSpace, the 24‑hour international innovation challenge co‑organised by the French space agency (CNES), the European Space Agency (ESA) and locally delivered by the Innovation & Collaboration Centre at Adelaide University, brought together space innovators from across Australia to tackle real‑world challenges using space data and technologies.

The team, The Red Planet, composed of Adelaide University aerospace engineering students Shradha Angrish and Mei He, stood out among eight competing teams for their novel solution that reimagines how menstrual care could be safely and effectively managed in space environments. Their win highlights the importance of inclusive innovation in advancing long‑duration space missions.

“As a platinum sponsor of ActInSpace Australia, iLAuNCH has been delighted to support this event that empowers the next generation of space founders and innovators,” said Associate Professor Matthew Richardson, Director of Space Education Programs at iLAuNCH. “The creativity and real‑world impact of this year’s winning concept demonstrate the kind of visionary and inclusive thinking we aim to champion through our programs and sponsorships.”

This win marks a significant milestone for Australian space innovation, with The Red Planet now preparing to compete against talent from dozens of countries at the global ActInSpace finals in France later this year.

Runners‑up teams also delivered compelling concepts, from spacecraft cargo optimisation systems to satellite‑data‑driven environmental monitoring solutions, underscoring the depth of space innovation talent supported through events like ActInSpace.

iLAuNCH congratulates all participants and extends thanks to the Innovation & Collaboration Centre, CNES, ESA, mentors, judges and the broader space community for an outstanding ActInSpace Australia 2026 event.
